Atkins Weight Loss Newsletters
Many dieters have heard of fad diets, and many have heard of the all-the-meat-you-can-eat wonder diet that is the Atkins weight loss program, probably through a newsletter. It has been a few years now, long enough for a wide variety of tests to have been done. Did the Atkins diet really hold up? Have any hearts exploded through poor menu selection?
Verdict
The verdict is finally in on the Atkins Diet, and for the case of meat eaters everywhere, it looks pretty good. Dieters on the Atkin's diet have experienced weight loss, and due to the favorable menu selection many people have no trouble at all staying on the diet. People like to eat meat, and there have been no reliable studies since showing that people following the Atkins diet have becoming unhealthy.
But before praise and applause is given out to the Atkins diet supporters, lets get a few explanations out of the way first. More than likely, people initially lose weight to the Atkins diet due to water loss as the body adjusts to an abnormal food regime. This happens with most diets. Despite the common belief that the Atkins diet is a "meat gorge" diet however, it really isn't. Dieters are still expected to watch what they eat very closely, including eating a lot of green leafy vegetables.
This leads to many people inadvertantly eating healthier than they were before, with a lower calorie intake. But lowering a calorie intake is not news to the weight loss world, and is actually the most common method of weight loss in the nation. Therefore, it is more than likely that Atkins dieters have been inadvertantly putting themselves into a normal diet routine, while thinking all the while they are cheating the system. It is a win/win situation.
Advice
Before everybody jumps back on the Atkins bandwagon of 2004, there are a few key pieces of advice that will help out. Always talk to a physician about a dieting plan before trying anything. Your doctor will know a lot more about how your body can handle drastic changes than a book on a newstand. Also, keep in mind that any diet requires responsible eating. Try to keep the saturate fats low, and physical activity about 3 times a week.
